First we heard about the government’s plans to built a National Broadband Network.  They’d control the last mile into every home in the country, again.

Then, it was the Internet Filter.  They’d be able to control what content we got access to.

Now, it’s data retention.  They’re trying to make our ISPs keep a record of every web site we try to visit, filtered or otherwise.

Finally, taking over security.  AusCERT is being pulled into a government controlled security team.

They’d effectively have control of the Internet in Australia.  We lose our privacy, we lose the ability to do what we want, we even lose the ability to know what we’re prevented access to.

All this from someone whose 3 year daughter can operate his iPhone better than he can.  Someone who doesn’t understand the technologies he’s trying to regulate.  Someone who doesn’t know the difference between a virus and a scam.
